"51-R-2" is used for general operations and station maintenance. Housed at North Station, the vehicle is not regularly staffed. During the winter, the truck is fitted with a snow plow and used for snow removal by the crew.

In the event of a large snow storm, the truck is staffed with off-duty personnel and responds to ambulance calls to assist in moving and accessing patients.
